Beer Mission #4

Thank you Oliver Gray for the most perfect picture to represent Beer Missions!

Welcome back to Beer Missions! A Beer Mission is something you can do when beer maybe gets a little boring. Yes, I said it! BORING! Beer will never be boring when it comes to taste. But besides the taste of beer there is something equally as important…the experience. The experience can get boring. You cannot drink the same beer(s) every night from the comfort of your couch. You have to mix it up! That’s where Beer Missions come in.

Beer Mission #4

Beer Missions will make you go out (sometimes you’ll stay in) and explore different experiences you can have with beer.

Here’s your next Beer Mission:

Talk to a stranger about beer.

Talk about anything. “What beer do you have?” “Did you know [insert fact about beer or beer style]?” Who knows what will come of this.

Welcome back for the third installment of Beer Missions!

Let me take a second to thank Oliver Gray from Literature and Libation for capturing this perfect picture (above) for Beer Missions!

If you are just seeing Beer Missions for the first time, a Beer Mission is something you can do when beer maybe gets a little boring. It’s something you can do shake things up and give you new experiences.

Beer Missions #3 was to:

Draw a short comic of how you will or want to enjoy your next beer.

Many people accepted this mission, me included of course.

Beer Mission #3: Mission Accomplished

Mrs. Short on Beer and I have spent the past week+ doing a bit of upgrading to our kitchen and seating area. Over the weekend and first half of this week we have painted and (with a ton of help from my dad) put up a backsplash. After that the only thing to do is grab the heaviest beer I could find, watch my bracket fall apart and pass out. There’s just a few more touchups to do then I’ll share some before and after pictures.

Make sure to read to the end of this post for an important message about the future of Beer Missions!

Just realized this is my 100th blog post! Knocked another one off My Impossible List!

This picture has nothing to do with Beer Mission #3. I just really liked it while looking through stock photos.

Beer Mission #3

I’m not sure which I’m worse at – drawing or singing. I want our next Beer Mission to include one of these to push my comfort zone. Here’s your next Beer Mission:

Draw a short comic of how you will or want to enjoy your next beer.

Beer Mission #2: Mission Accomplished

Welcome back for the second installment of Beer Missions!  A Beer Mission is something you can do when beer maybe gets a little boring. It’s something you can do shake things up and give you new experiences. Your first mission was to give a friend a beer they’ve never had before. That was just a warmup. I decided to go next level for Beer Mission #2.

Beer Mission #2: Drink an entire beer without knowing what it is

Many people accepted this mission, me included of course.

Beer Mission #2: Drink an entire beer without knowing what it is

I went with my friends Jeff and Ben up to one of my usual spots, the Buffalo Wing Factory. Jeff picked out a beer for me and told the bartender what I was trying to do. I should have known something was up when my 16oz pint glass wasn’t filled entirely to the top (hint: it was poured from a bottle which I never do at BWF because they have 30 taps!). This set me up perfectly for a fun bar bet. I was bet that I couldn’t guess what the beer is. I gladly accepted and knew with three attempts I could nail it.

What’s in the glass? Are you ready for Beer Mission #2?

Beer Mission #2

Drink an entire beer without knowing what it is

Your first Beer Mission was easy. Let’s take it to another level. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to drink an entire beer without knowing what it is.

How? That’s up to you. Ask the bartender to surprise you (just don’t look when he/she pours it!). Have a friend pour you a mystery beer from your stocked fridge. Use your imagination. The only rule is to drink the entire beer without knowing it. Embrace the mystery. If you must know what it is, ask after you finish it or play a guessing game. Maybe you don’t want to ever know and let it remain a mystery… It’s up to you!

Upon completion of your mission

To participate in Beer Mission #2 you have to do two things. First, report back your experience, right here in the comments section at the bottom of this post or on the follow-up post about my experience.

Second, share this with someone else! Tweet it, email it, print it out and hand it someone. The more people that do Beer Missions the more fun it will be for all.

So what are you waiting for? Go drink a mystery beer!
